How it works

  • This is the space to describe the service and explain how customers or clients can benefit from it. It’s an opportunity to add a short description that includes relevant details, like pricing, duration, location and how to book the service.

This is Dan Perry, one of the proud new owners of this wonderful company – Toto Tours. I will be hosting, with my husband and co-owner Michael, the very first tour offered under our new management, and this one is personal to me. In 1897, a man named Antonio Jacinto Pereira sailed from the island of São Miguel, Azores to follow the American Dream. That man was my great-grandfather and, more than a century later, I’m making my first trek with Toto Tours back to my roots. Returning to these islands feels like walking back into a story my family started generations ago. For many travelers, the Azores are a dream destination, but for me, they’re home.

The Azores feel like a place the world hasn’t discovered yet. Each island has its own personality, from volcanic lakes and steaming springs to crater-rim villages and endless hydrangea fields. It’s a destination where you can hike in the morning, whale-watch in the afternoon, and unwind over fresh seafood and local wine at night. It’s peaceful, dramatic, and full of moments that stay with you long after you’re home. A trip to the Azores with Toto Tours gives you the chance to explore this lesser-known corner of the world without ever feeling like a tourist. You’ll travel in a small, welcoming group where everyone can relax, be themselves, and enjoy the islands’ natural beauty at an easy pace. Each day blends real cultural experiences with the kind of thoughtful hosting and attention to detail Toto is known for. You'll leave feeling connected, refreshed, and a little bit changed by the magic of these islands.

Best of all, this trip takes away every logistical headache. Your round-trip transatlantic flight, all internal island flights, and every transfer are included. Guests only need to get themselves to Boston, and from there, we travel together as a group across the Atlantic and through the islands.

Below is your full day-by-day experience, crafted to balance culture, nature, food, and the relaxed magic of island life.

  • Day 1 – June 13
    Arrival in Terceira Island

    toto tours azores day 01.jpeg

We begin on Terceira, one of the most colorful and historic islands in the Azores. After landing, you’ll be greeted at the airport and brought straight to our hotel, the Azores Book Hotel, where you’ll have time to settle in, refresh, and shake off the travel day. In the evening we gather for a warm welcome dinner at QB Restaurant, our first chance to connect, raise a glass, and start building the little community that always forms on Toto trips.

    Day 2 – June 14
Angra do Heroísmo & Ilhéu das Cabras

    azores day 02.jpeg

Our morning unfolds in Angra do Heroísmo, a UNESCO World Heritage city filled with vivid façades, cobblestoned lanes, and a rich maritime past. A local guide leads us through its elegant squares and viewpoints, setting the tone for the days ahead. In the afternoon, we trade the city for the sea as we board a boat out to Ilhéu das Cabras. These twin islets sit just off Terceira’s coast, beautiful, dramatic, and home to some of the clearest waters in the region. The evening is yours to enjoy dinner wherever you choose.

    Day 3 – June 15
    Discovering Terceira

    azores day 03.jpeg

Today we dive deeper into Terceira’s wild side. A full-day island tour takes us through volcanic caves, sweeping coastal viewpoints, and pockets of local life that most visitors never see. Along the way, we enjoy a hearty Azorean lunch, the kind that reminds you how proud the islands are of their traditions. You’ll return to the hotel with plenty of stories and a new appreciation for this island’s dramatic geology.

    Day 4 – June 16
    Flying to Faial

    azores day 04.jpeg

This morning we take a short flight to Faial, known as the “Blue Island” for its hydrangeas and ocean vistas. After checking in at Pousada Forte da Horta—a historic fortress-turned-hotel overlooking the marina—we head out for a full-day exploration. The highlight is Capelinhos, the site of the Azores’ most famous volcanic eruption. Standing on this lunar landscape feels like stepping onto another planet. The rest of the tour winds through scenic viewpoints and the charming town of Horta. Dinner is open for you to enjoy at your own pace.

    Day 5 – June 17
    A Day on São Jorge

    azores day 05.jpeg

We cross the water by ferry to São Jorge, an island known for its dramatic cliffs and its fajãs, the lush, flat coastal plateaus created by ancient lava flows. It’s one of the most breathtaking landscapes in the archipelago. A full-day tour gives you time to soak in the island’s quiet beauty, learn about its unique geology, and, of course, sample the island’s famous cheese, which locals will proudly tell you is the best in Portugal.

    Day 6 – June 18
    Pico’s Lava Vineyards & A Legendary Dinner

    azores day 06.jpeg

This morning’s ferry carries us to Pico, home to Portugal’s highest mountain and vast fields of black lava rock that shelter UNESCO-protected vineyards. The contrast between the deep green landscape, the dark volcanic stone, and the blue Atlantic is unforgettable. We spend the day exploring Pico’s wine culture and volcanic scenery, and later we enjoy a special dinner at Genuíno Restaurant, the home of the first Portuguese sailor to circumnavigate the globe solo. His stories are woven into the space, and the food is worth the trip alone.

    Day 7 – June 19
    Flying to São Miguel

    azores day 07.jpeg

We say goodbye to Faial and board a short flight to São Miguel, the largest island in the Azores. After checking in at the DoubleTree by Hilton Lagoa, we enjoy a relaxed afternoon before gathering for a lively Gin & Sushi Night at The Gin Library, a quirky, one-of-a-kind bar that celebrates gin with almost scientific enthusiasm.

    Day 8 – June 20
    Ponta Delgada &
    A Playful Picnic

    azores day 08.jpeg

Our morning begins with a gentle city tour of Ponta Delgada, where we taste local wine and cheese and wander through charming historic districts. In the afternoon, we let loose and enjoy a playful picnic filled with games, laughter, and a few surprises. It’s a low-key, joyful day that fits perfectly into the middle of our journey.

    Day 9 – June 21
    Sete Cidades —
    The Azores Icon

    azores day 09.jpeg

Today we visit one of the most famous sights in the entire archipelago: the twin-colored lakes of Sete Cidades, set inside an enormous volcanic crater. The landscape is spectacular from every angle. For those who want a little adventure, optional kayaking or biking is included. A delicious lunch rounds out the day before we head back to the hotel to unwind.

    Day 10 – June 22
Nordeste & A Sunset at Sea

    azores day 010.jpeg

We spend the day exploring Nordeste, a region known for its waterfalls, lush hillsides, and almost impossibly green scenery. After lunch, we return to Lagoa for a quick refresh before boarding a speedboat in Rabo de Peixe for a sunset cruise. Drinks, sushi, and local bites are served as the sun drops toward the Atlantic, one of those quietly perfect travel moments you remember long after the trip ends.

    Day 11 – June 23
    Furnas & Farewell Celebration

    azores day 011.jpeg

Our final full day brings us to Furnas, a valley alive with geothermal activity. We stroll through Terra Nostra Park, soak in the beauty of its enormous thermal pool, and enjoy a traditional Cozido lunch cooked slowly underground by volcanic heat. In the evening, we gather for our farewell celebration, an easy, heartfelt closing to our journey together, full of good food, warm light, and the shared feeling that something special just happened.

    Day 12 – June 24
    Departure

    Airport Terminal View

After breakfast, we transfer to the airport for our return journey. Saying goodbye to the Azores is never easy, but the islands have a way of lingering with you through the views, the quiet moments, and the sense of connection we build as a group.

June in the Azores is comfortably mild, with temperatures averaging 65–75°F (18–24°C). Days are pleasantly warm with fresh ocean breezes, while evenings can feel cool, especially near the water or at higher elevations. Expect a mix of sunshine and light mist, perfect for hiking, exploring, and outdoor dining. Layers are your best friend. And remember: Toto Tours handles your flights, transfers, and logistics. You just bring your curiosity, your sense of adventure, and a heart ready to explore, belong, and return. ***Somewhere on the page we need to include that guests can upgrade to business class on the transatlantic flights only (for an additional price). ***We have the itinerary for the Alsace trip here: This intimate cruise brings Toto Tours guests into the heart of Alsace and Lorraine - a region shaped by beauty, resilience, and a cultural blend you can feel in every village lane and riverside vineyard. We travel on the Marne–Rhine Canal, gliding quietly from Strasbourg to Lagarde aboard a charming vessel that gives our group the perfect balance of comfort, community, and access to places most visitors never reach. Alsace has long been a crossroads for artists, thinkers, and rebels, ncluding LGBTQ figures who found refuge in Strasbourg’s university circles and the region’s bohemian café life. This journey is about leaning into that spirit: curiosity, belonging, and the joy of discovering a place that welcomes us as we are. You’ll explore medieval towns, climb to hilltop castles, savor local wines and tarte flambée, ride the iconic Arzviller Inclined Plane, and follow Marc Chagall’s luminous artistic trail. Every day offers connection: with the places we visit, with the stories that shaped them, and with each other.
