ITINERARY

Zagreb to Lake Bled

After breakfast we say farewell to tour members departing today, board our motorcoach, and cross the border into Slovenia. Our 120-mile drive (about 3½ hours) takes us to the town of Bled, beautifully situated in the Julian Alps with magnificent views in all directions. Slovenia has only one island, and it is a very tiny one in the middle of Lake Bled. However, it is truly one of the most beautiful spots on Earth, with the Alps as backdrop and St. Maria’s Church rising from its heart. Our afternoon sightseeing tour includes a boat ride out to this unusual site, as well as a visit to Bled Castle. The evening is free.     (Breakfast)

Lake Bled to Ljubljana

After breakfast, enjoy a free morning at Lake Bled. An invigorating walk around the entire lake is a great way to start your day! After lunch (on your own), we check out of our hotel and depart Bled, bound for nearby Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia. The name means “beloved” in Slovenian and you will think so too, once you’ve seen its quaint squares, narrow walking paths, cute bridges over the river and the charming old town.
One of the smallest capitals in all Europe, Ljubljana is often called “Little Prague.” The drive from Bled to Ljubljana is just 45 minutes, so we have a plenty of time to get acquainted with this charming city. Upon arrival we enjoy a half-day guided sightseeing tour of the city, including entrance to City Hall and a view of the Three Bridges. The evening is free.     (Breakfast)

Ljubljana Sightseeing

After breakfast, enjoy a half-day sightseeing tour of Ljubljana. Our guided tour begins with a view of the Castle. Since there is no access for motorcoach, you may take either a 20 minute steep uphill hike or ride the funicular up to the Castle. We also view the Bishop’s Palace and Parliament Building, as well as many of the town’s lovely squares. The afternoon is at leisure. This evening, enjoy a deluxe 4-course meal (almost a second Farewell Dinner) to mark the conclusion of our visit to Slovenia.     (Breakfast / Dinner)
