Optional Post Tour Extension
Igaussu Falls & Buenos Aires, Argentina
October 17 – 22, 2007

FROTHY ICING ON THE CAKE

From Rio we visit the country’s most dazzling spectacle: Iguassu Falls, where Brazil, Paraguay and Argentina come together, where the Iguassu River flows into the Parana River, forming a series of awe-inspiring waterfalls in the middle of a forest. The roar of its 260 cataracts, some reaching a height of 250 feet, can be heard 20 miles away. There are rainbows, bands of butterflies and birds, and all around the air vibrates as thundering water dissipates into clouds. These mighty waterfalls are one of the natural wonders of the world, and are superior in size and grandeur to both Niagara and Victoria! This extension concludes with two nights in fabulous Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Today we say farewell to Rio and fly to Iguassu Falls. Our flight departs Rio at 11:10am, arriving at the Falls at 1:15pm. Upon arrival we are met and transferred to the Tropical Hotel, a gorgeous property inside the National Park and directly in front of the falls on the Brazilian side. We arrive in the mid-afternoon, with the remainder of the day at leisure to enjoy the amenities of the hotel, and the views of the Falls.     (Breakfast)

Brazilian Falls / Macuco Safari

After breakfast this morning we tour the Brazilian side of Iguassu Falls. Neither words nor photographs do these falls justice—they must be seen and heard! Our afternoon adventure is named for the Macuco Trail in the Brazilian National Park, just three kilometers from Iguassu Falls. We ride in an open-air wagon pulled by a jeep through this lush, subtropical ecosystem then board a powerboat for a thrilling ride through rapids directly below the thundering Falls. Prepare to get wet! This evening you have the option to attend a beautiful folkloric show with dinner.     (Breakfast)

Flight to Argentina

After breakfast, check out of our hotel and tour the Argentinian side of the Falls. Continue directly to the airport for our flight to Buenos Aires, Argentina, which departs at 2:20pm and arrives at 4:10pm. Dinner and a Tango Show at Piazzolla Theater are included tonight. When you see the sexy, sultry tango, you will know for sure that you are in Buenos Aires! The tango show is spectacular, and is presented in a stunning theater which is an Art Nouveau masterpiece. It was closed for nearly 40 years, and was only recently restored. Of all the tango show palaces in Buenos Aires, this is the most beautiful, which adds even more excitement to the well-choreographed show.      (Breakfast / Dinner-Show)
