THUNDERING MISTS

It would be a shame to come all the way to South Africa and not see one of the world’s Seven Natural Wonders and a World Heritage Site. Just a two-hour flight north of Johannesburg into Zambia, Victoria Falls simply defies description. British explorer/missionary David Livingstone became the first European to see the falls in 1855 and reported its existence to the outside world in 1860. Having explored half the continent, Livingstone ranked the falls as “the most wonderful sight I witnessed in Africa.”

Fly to the Falls in Zambia

This morning fly to Livingstone, Zambia, where we begin our adventures at one of the most spectacular natural wonders of the world—Victoria Falls. The mighty Zambezi River flows broad and placid to the brink of a nearly 5,600 ft. wide basalt lip before taking a headlong 328 foot plunge into the thunderous, frothy chasm of the gorge below. This is the world’s largest sheet of falling water, and you will definitely get wet from the massive amount of spray and wind that is produced by all this falling water. Dinner is on your own at the hotel.     (Breakfast)

Free Day at the Falls

The day is entirely free to plan an optional activity to your liking. We highly recommend a full day tour in Botswana's Chobe National Park. Part of the tour will feature a cruise on the Chobe River where you will see herds of elephant and many hippos. After lunch the second part of the tour will be in a land rover safari. Be sure to carry your passport today as you will be crossing through the border of Zimbabwe to get into Botswana.
Other options for today include guided tours of the Falls, a visit to an African village, a tour of the craft market, "Flight of the Angels" over the Falls in a fixed wing plane or helicopter, bunji jumping, white water rafting, elephant back safaris, steam train safaris, horseback riding, Livingstone town and museum tour, railway museum tour, and more.     (Breakfast)
