Photo Gallery

  Mt. Olympus,
seen in background,
beckons you to Greece
for pure hiking adventure

  The tour begins
in Athens

  The city is sparkling
after the recent
Summer Olympics

We stay in the
historic Plaka

We soon head for the hills
to conquer Mt. Olympus

The walk from Litochoro
to Prionia features views of
the mountain seen through
beech and fir forests

From our refuge
the peaks of
Mt. Olympus

Mt. Olympus has
three different peaks

The first is Skala Peak at
9,455 feet in altitude

The second is
Skolio Peak at
9,550 feet altitude

  Finally, the highest point
in Greece is the top of
Mytikas Peak at
9,570 feet altitude

  The views from the
top are guaranteed
to be astounding

  Walk the Plateau
of the Muses
to our second refuge

  Stefani Peak,
known as the
Throne of Zeus,
dominates the
Plateau of the Muses

  Walk through the
Enippeas Gorge
as we descend
from Mt. Olympus

We follow the
Enippeas River

  Take advantage
of the opportunity
to swim in fresh
river pools

  The water
is sparkling
clear, creating
interesting
rock formations

  The gorge
eventually opens
as we arrive in
Litochoro

Litochoro

Next stop is the
village of Kalambaka

It is world-famous
for its proximity
to the Meteora cliffs

  We stay in a
small hotel facing
the Meteora rocks

  Ancient burial
caves at Meteora

  View of Kalambaka
from Meteora

  One of the
peculiar rock
formations
at Meteora

  Rock-climbing
among nature's
works of art
is a favorite
pastime at Meteora

In addition to the
wild rock formations,
the fact that Monasteries
are precariously perched
on top of them is what
makes Meteora so famous

  We will enjoy visits
to two such monasteries

One will be the
Varlaam Monastery,
seen here in the
distance

  At the conclusion
of our tour we return
to historic Athens

  Enjoy a guided
tour of some of
the city's most
famous landmarks

  Admire colorful
traditional costumes
and get ideas for your
next costume affair

Our final hike will
be through the
Old City on our
way to our
farewell dinner

Don't stand there
like a statue!

Use those legs for
a more exhilarating
adventure . . .
