Message Dated November 10, 2011 Dear Friends:  We’ve been out of touch for far too long. Buried, quite literally, as the walls have come crumbling down around us! If the truth be known, Jonathan and Dan (your hard-working Toto Tours staff) launched a great undertaking – home renovation! It has involved moving walls made of lathe and plaster (cough) and ripping up floors. As is generally the case when you get the bright idea to fix up something really old, unexpected difficulties bubbled to the surface. This project has stolen our focus and our patience, not to mention our money. And it’s not over yet! You saw The Money Pit, right? At least our 16-year-old relationship is holding together better than the 97-year-old walls surrounding it.
If the home-wrecking weren’t enough to silence us, Dan’s computer required an upgrade with all the consequent tedium of moving files and reloading programs (many of which no longer functioned in the jump from Windows XP to Windows 7). Oh, and did we mention that we are in the process of re-designing our website? It seems like we’ve been mentioning that fact month after month for nearly a year now, but the end is almost in sight. And at the same time we had three back-to-back tours to launch in October and November (to Sicily, Egypt and Spain). You are undoubtedly getting a clear picture of how the cats (we have three) got our tongues?
We’ve now called a halt to all the home repairs as we hastily spruce up what’s left of the place for the influx of family and friends for Thanksgiving. Once we finally kiss the last ones goodbye on November 30th, we’ll launch into the next phase of kitchen remodeling and floor refinishing. This is just the eye of the storm, which is gratefully passing over slowly enough to allow us to send out this message to you! If you’d like a peek at what we’ve been up to, click on this link. Dan Ware has a personal trip to Palm Springs, California, planned for the weekend of February 4-5, 2012. We are thinking this is a great chance to get together with our many traveling companions who live in the area. We have not yet made any firm plans for the event, but if you live nearby or plan to be there during that time, please pencil into your calendar the date of Friday, February 3rd, as the most likely date for this reunion. Send us an email and we will put you on the list of people to be notified once all plans have been finalized as to time and place. We hope to see you in Palm Springs!
